WWI US Army Gas Mask With Filter in Bag

I did not remove the mask or filter to photograph them, historically for me this has never worked and I either cant get it back in or its too dry and crumbles apart trying to get it out or back in. This one does seem to have a "crunch" to it but doesn't appear to be visibly falling apart like some in their final stages. Recommended not to remove and just admire/respect the item how it currently is.
