    Description

WW1 Grenade Vest--83rd Division Unit Marked
Original WW1 US grenade vest [for carrying V-B grenades, not standard hand grenades], mix of greenish-khaki and brownish-khaki cotton construction, 11 pockets with blackened brass snaps on flaps, and brownish-khaki shoulder strap and tie tapes. Well marked on back TROY CARRIAGE SUN SHADE CO. and dated April 1918. Named at top and unit marked to Company C, 331st Infantry Regiment [83rd Division]. Unit was composed of drafted personnel from Cleveland, Ohio.
Light soiling which appears to be due more to storage rather than use, but no holes, fraying or other damage. Quite possibly one of the most common pieces of WW1 web gear, but not often seen where they were actually issued for use [most on today's market are in absolutely unissued, never-been-used condition]. This one has the added bonus of an Ohio-based contractor, interesting piece for any collector of 83rd Division items and is in very fine condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
