    Description

Wonderful Vintage WWI 499th Aero Squadron AEF Wooden Personnel Box Painted c1918. Condition appears original. Fantastic hand painted dark green paint with 3 propeller & wings logo painted on box top. On the bottom it is stenciled with the service members name A.C. Bayard 499 Aero Sqdn AEF USA. The 499th was a construction squadron active somewhere around December 1917 to March 1919. It was a construction air service replacement squadron concentration center St. Maixent replacement barracks. Unique and interesting piece of WWI history. Box is in very good condition with no significant damage or repairs. Some scratches of course and what looks to be light staining on the inside. The hinges and front clasp appear original and operated in good condition. Solid box with graphic logo on top. Displays fantastic. Box is roughly 15” in length and a little over 9” wide.
