    Description

    Reverse painting on bubble glass. Silhouette has a few colors other than just black: blue, white, yellow, pink, green. Totally round measuring 6" in diameter. Very good condition with its only defects being wear of the black exterior edges (easily touched up), an air bubble in the center of her skirt, the left flower petals are incomplete, and some spots on the back from 2 different ways of hanging the piece though no wall hanger remains attached. Background appears to be tan leather. Estimated to have been made between 1930 and 1940. Still bears original "hand painted Peter Watson's Studio" sticker on the back. Peter Watson was known for his silhouettes. Some were done on glass (reverse painting) while others were Ink Drawings. Many of the art pieces from his studio carry a sticker identifying their origin from Peter Watson Studios of Detroit, Michigan as does this one. It is reverse signed on the glass P.W. in the lower right corner under the flower.
