Native American Prairie Chicken Saddle Tree
~ Designed/created by Linda Spiesschaert of Kitchen Table Stables (KTS) ~
    DESCRIPTION
    :
    Excellent quality
    CAST PEWTER SADDLE TREE
    (or
    trees
    ,
depending on how many you specify when purchasing)
~ you'll be EXTREMELY pleased with its realism and accuracy! The tree design is copyright-protected by KTS.
    SIZE
    :
This saddle tree was sculpted on a 1:9 Model (Toy) Horse Scale
    Breyer Lady Phase
, but the master was made a bit larger than true 1:9 Traditional Breyer Scale. In the moldmaking/production process, shrinkage of approx. 5% occurred, making the final outcome
somewhere between 1:9 and 1:8 scale.
This tree is ideal for larger Breyer Traditional models, Peter Stone models, many resins, etc. In real life, Native American ladies made the saddles without a pattern, so each one would be unique and a slightly different size.
    FOR NATIVE AMERICAN
    MAN
    OR
    WOMAN
    ?
Per the sculptor (Linda Spiesschaert), "the Prairie Chicken Tree was made for men. Some were used for transporting things when they moved from one place to another. But, the N.A. Peoples weren't rigid when it came to 'making due'. Most of the things that they made had several uses. It was a pretty versatile piece of equipment. Mostly, though, it was considered a man's saddle." She added that she's seen a few photos of a woman or girl riding on one, but they weren't packing anything.
    PREPPING/PAINTING/FINISHING ADVICE
    :
Go over your saddle tree(s) with a small wire brush or steel wool. Wash with soap in warm water and rinse thoroughly. Soak in lemon juice for 30 minutes to oxidize the pewter. Prime with auto primer. Prep coat with white or gray paint. Testors Acrylic Paint is recommended (it is a non-toxic model paint that can be washed up with Testors Acrylic Cleaner
    or
with just water, and can be mixed, brushed, or airbrushed). Replicate a rawhide color with your own personal Testors acrylic paint mixture (rawhide is a cream color with some hints of sienna or gray; the amount of sienna/gray should vary depending on how old you want the saddle to appear). Finish with Testors Model Master Lusterless Flat Finish Spray Paint. The saddles for the "Parade Dance" should appear as white as possible. The working saddles should show some use or age to them.

    INTERNATIONAL BUYERS
    :
We gladly combine/reduce shipping on all orders that contain items from more than one of our eBay listings; please contact us when you've completed your Buy-it-Now purchase commitments in our Store (but
    before
you have paid), and we'll send you a personalized eBay Invoice with our
    BEST SHIPPING RATE
for your specific order. If you remit payment for purchases from multiple listings without waiting for our invoice, eBay's system will automatically add postage from each listing's purchase(s) and you'll pay significantly more than we require. If you feel that eBay's Shopping Cart is forcing payment, use the "Buy-it-Now" link on each listing page instead (but don't follow any links to remit payment). Your purchase commitments will show up in your "My eBay" as unpaid purchases, and we will then be able to see them and send you a personalized invoice.
