Description
The Douglas DC-4 is a four piston engine propeller driven airlines manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Military versions of this aircraft, the C-54 and R5D served during World War Two, the Berlin Airlift and into the 1960's. After the war, many airlines around the world operated the DC-4. The first flight of the DC-4 was on 14 February, 1942. It was introduced that same year, to United Airlines.Capital Airlines was an airline serving eastern, southern, southeastern and midwestern United States. In the 1950's, Capital Airlines was the fifth largest United States domestic carrier. Capital was founded on November 1st, 1936 as Pennsylvania Central Airlines and commenced operations on April 21, 1958 as Capital Airlines. In 1960, Capital was merged with United Airlines. There were ten DC-4's in service when Capital merged with United.
This 1:200 die cast reproduction of the Capital Airlines Douglas DC-4 is a rare, highly detailed, historical model. It is an assembled model and can be displayed in the ground configuration with the supplied landing gear, or in the flight configuration with the supplied display stand. It has highly detailed Capital Airlines graphics from the 1950's and 1960's. All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only.
