Description
Early 1950s Marx American Airlines DC-4 Flagship, NC-2100, Rare Retro Toy PlaneAn original, pressed-steel beauty that Baby Boomers demanded from their parents back in the day. Now, many of these same kids are today's vintage toy collectors, snapping up these planes and restoring many of them to their former glory.
This hard-to-find 70 year old plane from rural Indiana is almost complete, missing only one propeller. The decals are in overall good shape with only modest wear. All wheels roll evenly. The left rear cabin door is loose but opens and closes smoothly. A previous owner attached a wire under the fuselage, perhaps to display the plane. This can easily be removed. An overall superficial rust gives this piece a very attractive patina. No infiltrative rust is seen.
The wingspan length of 27 1/2", fuselage length of 21 1/2" and rear tail height of 6" makes this toy plane very substantial. Weight is heavy at 2 lbs, 13 oz.
This historic piece is ready for restoration. On the other hand, its vintage looks are so amazing that it nicely displays in its current condition. We will carefully pack, insure and ship this beauty within one business day to addresses in the United States only. Please contact us if you have any questions or if you would like additional photos.
