ANTIQUE W.R. KELLEY & CO. STONEWARE ADVERTISING ROLLING PIN SANTA ANNA, TEXAS

Offered here is an antique, or vintage, crock or stoneware advertising rolling pin. It is marked: "COMPLIMENTS OF W. R. KELLEY & CO...Get it where they've got it." No city or town is listed. I saw one exactly like this online, that was identified as being from Santa Ann, Texas. (Population about 1,000.) When I did a Google Search of "W.R. Kelley & Co.", the only thing I found was a record of a court case filed against the company. The case was filed in 1911, in Coleman County, Texas. Santa Anna is part of Coleman County, so I feel pretty sure that this is from that area. NOT COUNTING THE HANDLE - the rolling pin measures just under 8 inches long. (It is 15 inches long, if you include the wooden dowel handle.) It is 3 inches wide. It has some flaws: There is a chip, about the size of a pencil eraser, on one end. There is "crazing" (crackling) throughout the glaze. Under, and through, the name, "W.R. KELLEY & CO." there is a fine hairline crack. It is little more than deep crazing, but you CAN feel it with your fingernail, so to be on the safe side, I'm calling it a "HAIRLINE CRACK." (See close-ups with pencil point showing both flaws. The wooden dowel handle does not appear to be original, but was clearly made decades ago. This rolling pin still displays very nicely. It is guaranteed to be old & original - made over 100 years ago - or your money back.
