    Antique Hand Painted Milk Blown Glass Rolling Pin. Catherine M & Robert Montrose The Happy Return From Her Brother. Unfortunately the date is worn off. These rolling pins were used to smuggle salt or to hold rum. Salt was taxed heavily and so they would put them in these pins to hide the salt and avoid paying tax. The pins were hung by the stove to keep the salt dry. The rolling pin is approximately 16” long.
