American Airlines flight schedule / timetable Effective September 1, 1948. Announcing
Skysleeper Service on the Southern Transcontinental Route between New York and Los Angeles. Famous
Five-Star Flagship will provide sleeper accommodations for 8 of its 44 passengers nightly. This is when it took twice
as long to fly across the U. S. as it does now, and stops were mandatory due to aircraft range limitations.
