Part of Alaga Coach Lines Fleet of Modern Buses
ca. 1942-1945 (note the BUY WAR BONDS signs on the buses) color postcard showing 2 nice looking Alaga Buses parked in front of a neat, Art Deco Greyhound Bus Terminal / Station. This bus station was in Dothan as card was published by Dothan Cigar & Candy Company and the original sender, apparently on a bus trip from Birmingham Alabama to Panama City Florida says that they have stopped for the night in Dothan and so presumably bought this card in the bus station there. It also matches other (but totally different) views of the Dothan Bus Station listed on ebay*
Further the card was postmarked in Dothan in August 1946 (but I'm virtually certain the card dates from 1942-1945 because of the BUY WAR BONDS signage on the side of the buses). The bus station was just still selling the cards (or giving them away) in 1946.
Standard size postcard printed by Curteich in Chicago.
I think Alaga Coach Lines may have been a local subsidiary of Greyhound, set up to serve Alabama and Georgia.
As of 16 July 2021 I couldn't find this card / view anywhere else @ ebay in either current or
completed listings*
*There are a lot of a
more recent view
but none dating from WW2
Postally used but VG+ with only the upper lh corner of recto (front) of card being lightly bumped. Really nice . . . . . . . .
Remember that the
Abraham Lincoln Penny
is not attached to the item. It is put on the scanner bed merely to protect the uniqueness or near uniqueness of an image so that the high bidder gets an item that has not been copied via someone's computer. The penny DOES NOT hide any faults or any damage!
