    Where was this bridge? This may be the former Bridgeport swing span bridge built by the N.C. & St. L (Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway) in 1890-92 and replaced in 1981. See this web site==> https://bridgehunter.com/al/jackson/bh52692/
    The problem is that stone pivot pier which is tapered. The photos on the Library of Congress web site I believe date from 1980. That shows a vertical-edge pivot pier. I'm guessing that my postcard shows an older pier that was replaced with a stronger pier
